Tulsa Tree Grants Offered

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — Oklahoma Forestry Services is offering a local grant for urban reforestation efforts at Berry Park located in northern Tulsa.

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Develop a tree planting plan for a minimum of 36, 2-inch caliper high-grade trees for Berry Park in Tulsa; secure appropriate city and park authorizations; coordinate a local tree giveaway of a minimum of 50, 5-gallon high-grade trees for volunteer tree planters and local citizens. The planting and distribution of fruit/nut bearing trees will be considered. No planting of trees will occur until final approval of site design from Oklahoma Forestry Services (OFS).
  • Promote the tree planting and related community tree distribution to the residents in north Tulsa through canvassing and public education and other appropriate outreach techniques.
  • Train and utilize local volunteer base that will assist in the planting within the park. Upon planting day, attendees will receive additional training on how to properly plant a tree based on its size and location of planting site. Upon the completion of the Berry Park tree planting event, volunteer participants will receive a 5-gallon tree to plant on their private property. They will receive additional care and maintenance tips to ensure their healthy, long-term growth. Remaining trees will be distributed locally.
